Meet Mike!

Rooted in Harford County and Committed to its Future

Mike was born and raised right here in Harford County and is a proud graduate of Bel Air High School. He met his wife, Kate, during a high school church retreat, and today they’re raising their three sons in Bel Air, the community they’ve always called home.

Mike’s deep commitment to Harford County is rooted in more than 70 years of family history. Both sides of his family settled here after World War II. His maternal grandfather served at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and after fighting in WWII, he went on to fight in Korea and Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart before being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. His paternal grandfather dedicated his career to veterans at the Perry Point VA Medical Center and was a former owner of the Harford Lanes bowling alley in Aberdeen.

Service to the community continued with Mike’s parents: his father spent decades as a teacher in Harford County Public Schools, and his mother supported national defense efforts at APG. Growing up, Mike saw firsthand what it meant to give back to the community, and he knew he would one day do the same.

A Career Built on Strengthening Small Businesses

After earning dual degrees in accounting and finance from West Virginia University, Mike built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and later in the finance and accounting staffing industry. He recently launched his own Harford County-based small business that helps local small and mid-sized companies hire qualified financial professionals. Throughout his career, Mike has advised hundreds of small businesses and nonprofits, ensuring their financial operations stay strong, safe, and secure.

Serving Harford County, Every Day

Whether it's coaching his sons’ baseball teams, serving on the boards of Harford County nonprofits, or leading local advocacy groups, Mike has always placed a high priority on community service. He also serves as Treasurer at his family’s church, where his wife, Kate, is the Director of Children’s Ministry. Through these years of involvement, Mike has seen firsthand the tremendous potential of Harford County citizens when united around a purpose!

Restoring Leadership, Building the Future

As your Council President, Mike will bring the energy, focus, and determination needed to our local government. He’s ready to shake up the status quo and fight for a county government that actually works for its residents.

Together we will build a stronger, safer, and more efficient Harford County – one our children will be proud to inherit.
